Publication Ethics and Misconduct Statement

Irsyaduna: Jurnal Studi Kemahasiswaan is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to maintaining high standards of publication ethics and research integrity. This statement defines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

The journal's publication ethics are guided by internationally recognized principles of responsible scholarly publishing, including the principles and best practices developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Core Ethical Principles

All parties involved in the publication process are expected to uphold integrity, objectivity, transparency, confidentiality, accountability, fairness, and respect for intellectual property. Fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, citation manipulation, duplicate publication, peer-review manipulation, and other forms of research or publication misconduct are not acceptable.

Ethical Responsibilities

Editors Publication Decisions Editors are responsible for determining which manuscripts are suitable for publication based on academic quality, originality, relevance, methodological soundness, reviewer evaluations, journal policies, and applicable ethical and legal requirements.
Fair Evaluation Manuscripts must be evaluated on their scholarly content without discrimination based on the authors' personal, institutional, national, religious, cultural, or other characteristics unrelated to academic merit.
Confidentiality Editors and editorial staff must protect the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and disclose manuscript information only to persons legitimately involved in the editorial and peer review process.
Conflict of Interest Editors must disclose and appropriately manage potential conflicts of interest. Unpublished information obtained from submitted manuscripts must not be used for personal research or advantage without appropriate authorization.
Editorial Independence Editorial decisions must remain independent from commercial interests, publication fees, institutional pressure, advertising, sponsorship, or other inappropriate influence.
Reviewers Contribution to Decisions Peer reviewers assist editors in making informed editorial decisions and provide constructive scholarly feedback to help authors improve their manuscripts.
Promptness Reviewers who lack the required expertise or are unable to complete the review within the specified period should promptly inform the editor and decline the invitation.
Confidentiality Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared, discussed, reproduced, or used outside the authorized review process.
Objectivity Reviews must be objective, constructive, and supported by appropriate scholarly reasoning. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate.
Conflict of Interest Reviewers must disclose potential conflicts arising from competitive, collaborative, institutional, personal, financial, or other relationships that could reasonably affect their impartiality.
Authors Reporting Standards Authors must present an accurate and objective account of the research conducted. Data, methods, findings, and interpretations must be reported honestly and with sufficient scholarly detail.
Originality and Plagiarism Authors must submit original work and appropriately acknowledge all ideas, words, data, figures, or other materials derived from other sources. Plagiarism and inappropriate text recycling are prohibited.
Data Integrity Research data must be presented accurately. Authors should retain relevant research data and, where appropriate and ethically permissible, be prepared to provide supporting information when reasonably requested during editorial evaluation.
Multiple or Concurrent Submission Authors must not submit substantially the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal or publish substantially the same research in multiple publications without appropriate justification, disclosure, and acknowledgment.
Authorship and Contributorship Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions to the work. The corresponding author must ensure that all appropriate authors are included, all listed authors have approved the final manuscript, and all authors agree to its submission.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest Authors must disclose relevant financial, institutional, personal, or other conflicts of interest and identify relevant sources of research funding or support.
Errors in Published Work Authors who identify a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work must promptly notify the journal and cooperate with appropriate correction, clarification, or retraction procedures.
Publisher Editorial Integrity The publisher supports the editorial independence of the journal and is committed to ensuring that commercial considerations, publication fees, advertising, sponsorship, or other interests do not improperly influence editorial decisions.
Scholarly Record The publisher supports appropriate editorial action to preserve the accuracy, accessibility, and integrity of the scholarly record.
Ethical Responsibilities The publisher supports editors, reviewers, and authors in applying the journal's publication ethics policies and addressing allegations of misconduct fairly and appropriately.

Allegations of Research and Publication Misconduct

Research and publication misconduct may include, but is not limited to, fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, citation manipulation, duplicate or redundant publication, inappropriate authorship, peer-review manipulation, data manipulation, and other serious violations of research or publication integrity.

When an allegation of misconduct is received, the editorial team will first assess whether the concern has sufficient basis to warrant further examination. Relevant conflicts of interest will also be considered.

Where appropriate, the corresponding author may be contacted and given an opportunity to provide an explanation and supporting information. The journal may seek additional expert advice or request relevant documentation when necessary.

Possible Editorial Actions

Depending on the nature, severity, and stage of the case, appropriate action may include requesting clarification, requiring manuscript revision, rejecting a submitted manuscript, issuing a correction or other post-publication notice, retracting a published article, or taking other actions necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.

Complaints and Appeals

Irsyaduna: Jurnal Studi Kemahasiswaan provides a mechanism for addressing complaints or appeals concerning editorial procedures, peer review, publication ethics, editorial decisions, or other aspects of the journal's publication process.

Complaints and appeals will be considered fairly, objectively, and confidentially. Where applicable, the journal will refer to relevant COPE principles and guidance in evaluating and resolving the matter.

Ethical Oversight

Research involving human participants, personal or confidential data, animals, potentially hazardous procedures, or other matters requiring ethical oversight must comply with applicable ethical and legal requirements.

Where ethical approval, informed consent, institutional authorization, or other relevant permission is required, authors must obtain the necessary approval and provide appropriate information in the manuscript. The journal may request supporting documentation when necessary.

Confidentiality and Data Protection

Authors must appropriately protect confidential, sensitive, and personally identifiable research information. Information that could identify research participants should not be disclosed unless its publication is ethically justified and the necessary consent or authorization has been obtained.

Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)

Authors, reviewers, and editors must comply with the journal's Generative AI Policy. Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors and must not replace human responsibility for the accuracy, originality, integrity, confidentiality, or scholarly judgment involved in research and publication.
