Peer Review Process

 

Peer Review Policy Urwatul Wutsqo: Jurnal Studi Kependidikan dan Keislaman applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, validity, and academic integrity of published articles. The identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process.
Initial Editorial Screening All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editorial team. The screening considers the manuscript's relevance to the journal's aims and scope, compliance with author guidelines, academic quality, originality, ethical requirements, and similarity level. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's basic requirements may be returned to the authors or rejected before external peer review.
Reviewer Assignment Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are reviewed by at least two suitably qualified reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject of the manuscript. Reviewers are selected based on their academic expertise, independence, and absence of conflicts of interest.
Review Criteria Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:
  • Relevance to the journal's aims and scope;
  • Originality and contribution to the literature;
  • Clarity and significance of the research problem;
  • Appropriateness and rigor of the research methodology;
  • Accuracy and depth of data analysis and discussion;
  • Consistency between findings, discussion, and conclusions;
  • Quality and relevance of references and citations;
  • Clarity, coherence, and academic quality of the manuscript; and
  • Compliance with research and publication ethics.
Reviewer Recommendation Based on their evaluation, reviewers may recommend one of the following:
  • Accept Submission;
  • Revisions Required;
  • Resubmit for Review; or
  • Decline Submission.
Reviewer recommendations serve as an important basis for editorial consideration but do not constitute the final publication decision.
Revision Process Authors receiving a revision decision are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the reviewers' and editors' comments and provide an appropriate response to the requested revisions. When necessary, revised manuscripts may be returned to the same reviewers or evaluated by the editorial team to determine whether the reviewers' concerns have been adequately addressed.
Editorial Decision The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the designated Editor, taking into consideration the reviewers' recommendations, the quality of the revised manuscript, compliance with journal policies, and relevant ethical considerations. The final editorial decision remains the responsibility of the journal.
Confidentiality and Ethics Editors and reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts and information obtained during the peer review process. Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, and scholarly evaluations and disclose any potential conflicts of interest. Manuscript content may not be used for personal advantage or disclosed to unauthorized parties.
Editorial Independence Editorial decisions are based on the scholarly merit, originality, methodological quality, relevance, and ethical integrity of the manuscript. Decisions are made independently of the authors' institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, or other personal characteristics unrelated to academic quality.
