Focus and Scope

Urwatul Wutsqo: Jurnal Studi Kependidikan dan Keislaman (p-ISSN: 2252-6099; e-ISSN: 2721-2483) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that publishes original research articles and academic studies in the broad fields of education and Islamic studies. The journal applies a double-blind peer-review process and is published three times a year, in March, July, and November.

The journal provides an academic platform for scholars, researchers, lecturers, practitioners, and other academic communities to disseminate research findings and scholarly ideas concerning education, Islam, Muslim societies, and contemporary developments in Islamic studies.

Scope

The journal welcomes original research articles and scholarly studies covering various perspectives within education and Islamic studies. The scope includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:

Islamic Philosophy and Thought	Classical and contemporary Islamic philosophy, Muslim intellectual traditions, Islamic thought, epistemology, ethics, and the development and relevance of Islamic thought in contemporary contexts.
Theology and Religious Studies	Islamic theology, religious thought, religious practices, religious moderation, interreligious relations, religious diversity, and contemporary issues in the study of Islam and religion.
Sufism and Islamic Spirituality	Sufism, tariqa traditions, Islamic spirituality, ethics, religious experience, spiritual practices, and classical and contemporary developments in Sufi thought.
Islamic History and Civilization	Islamic history, intellectual history, Muslim communities, Islamic institutions, historical movements, prominent Muslim figures, and the development of Islamic civilization in various periods and regions.
Islam and Culture	Islamic culture, local traditions, religious identity, cultural expressions, local wisdom, popular Islam, and interactions between Islamic values and cultural practices.
Islamic Economics	Islamic economic thought and practices, sharia economics, Islamic finance, Muslim entrepreneurship, Islamic philanthropy, zakat, waqf, and socioeconomic issues related to Muslim communities.
Islam and Society	Islam and social change, Muslim communities, religious movements, gender and Muslim society, social institutions, community development, religious behavior, and contemporary social issues involving Islam and Muslims.
Islam and Politics	Islamic political thought, religion and politics, citizenship, governance, public policy, political participation, Muslim political movements, and the relationship between Islam, state, and society.
Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies	Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies that examine Islam and Muslim societies through educational, social, cultural, historical, philosophical, theological, legal, economic, political, technological, psychological, or other relevant scholarly perspectives.

Educational Studies

Within the field of education, the journal welcomes studies addressing both general educational issues and Islamic education. Topics may include curriculum, teaching and learning, educational leadership and management, educational policy, teacher development, character and values education, educational technology, assessment, institutional development, pesantren and madrasah studies, and other issues relevant to contemporary educational scholarship.

Islamic Studies

Within the field of Islamic studies, the journal welcomes scholarly investigations of Islam from diverse disciplinary perspectives, including Islamic law, philosophy, theology, Sufism, history, culture, economics, society, and politics. Studies may examine classical or contemporary issues and may address Islamic thought, institutions, practices, traditions, communities, and their development in different social and historical contexts.

Interdisciplinary and Multidisciplinary Studies

The journal recognizes that contemporary educational and Islamic issues often require interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. Therefore, Urwatul Wutsqo: Jurnal Studi Kependidikan dan Keislaman welcomes studies that integrate perspectives from education, religious studies, sociology, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, history, law, economics, politics, technology, cultural studies, and other relevant disciplines.

Such studies should demonstrate a clear scholarly problem, appropriate methodology or analytical framework, engagement with relevant literature, and a meaningful contribution to the development of knowledge.

Types of Manuscripts

The journal primarily publishes original research articles based on qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method, historical, textual, or other academically appropriate research approaches. Conceptual and theoretical studies may also be considered when they provide a substantial and clearly articulated contribution to scholarship within the journal's focus and scope.
