Journal History
Urwatul Wutsqo: Jurnal Studi Kependidikan dan Keislaman has developed continuously since its establishment, from a print-based scholarly journal into an online, accredited, and internationally indexed open-access journal. The following timeline presents the major milestones in the journal's development.
2012 — First Publication and Print ISSN
Urwatul Wutsqo: Jurnal Studi Kependidikan dan Keislaman began publication in print form and obtained its Print ISSN from LIPI under Decree No. 0005.253/JI.3.2/SK.ISSN/2012.03, with p-ISSN 2252-6099.
2020 — Transition to Online Publishing
The journal expanded its publication platform by establishing its online edition beginning with Volume 9, Number 1, March 2020. The online edition received e-ISSN 2721-2483 under Decree No. 0005.27212483/JI.3.1/SK.ISSN/2020.03. This development marked an important transition toward broader digital dissemination and open scholarly access.
2021 — Expansion of Digital Visibility
Following the establishment of its print and online ISSNs, the journal continued to strengthen its digital presence and scholarly visibility, including registration and inclusion in national scholarly indexing and discovery services such as Garuda.
2022 — National Accreditation (SINTA 5)
On 12 February 2022, the journal submitted its application for national journal accreditation through ARJUNA. On 3 October 2022, Urwatul Wutsqo: Jurnal Studi Kependidikan dan Keislaman officially obtained SINTA 5 accreditation under Decree No. 204/E/KPT/2022, covering publications from Volume 9 Number 1 (2020) to Volume 13 Number 2 (2024).
2023 — Strengthening Journal Governance and Quality
Following the accreditation results and recommendations from journal assessors, the editorial team initiated a systematic improvement of journal management and publication quality. These improvements included strengthening the editorial board and reviewer network, increasing international participation, improving the article template and journal website, enhancing editorial and peer-review management, and strengthening overall publication standards.
2024 — Indexed in DOAJ
A significant milestone in the journal's international visibility was achieved when Urwatul Wutsqo: Jurnal Studi Kependidikan dan Keislaman was accepted for inclusion in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) on 2 July 2024. This milestone strengthened the journal's international discoverability and demonstrated its continuing commitment to open-access scholarly publishing.
2025 — Accreditation Upgrade to SINTA 3
The journal achieved another major milestone by improving its national accreditation status from SINTA 5 to SINTA 3. The current accreditation is recorded under No. 10/C/C3/DT.05.00/2025. This advancement reflects the journal's continued development in editorial management, peer review, publication quality, scholarly visibility, and journal governance.
Present — Continuing Development
Currently, Urwatul Wutsqo: Jurnal Studi Kependidikan dan Keislaman continues to strengthen its position as a scholarly publication in the fields of education and Islamic studies. The journal is published by LP3M, Institut Agama Islam (IAI) Al-Urwatul Wutsqo Jombang, Indonesia and continues to develop its editorial quality, international scholarly collaboration, indexing coverage, publication ethics, and global visibility.
