Abstract

This research explores the issue of radicalism which is increasingly attracting attention among students, with a focus on those enrolled in the Islamic Religious Education study program at the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Parepare. This research was triggered by the results of a survey by the Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) which documented the high interest in radicalism among students. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a descriptive framework. Data analysis was carried out using the Rasch Model, which allows a more in-depth assessment of students' religious orientation. The research results found indicated that around 42% of students tended to be moderate, while the same percentage tended to be fundamental in their religious views. The Intolerance Factor (IT) emerged as the main driver of religious fundamentalism. These findings provide a comprehensive picture of the complexity of students' understanding of diversity, providing a basis for the development of careful prevention and intervention strategies in overcoming radicalism in the higher education environment. These efforts aim to support broad prevention goals, increase societal stability, and stimulate inclusive interfaith dialogue.
