Abstract

This study aims to describe the strategies teachers use to instill nationalist values in students through the Pancasila Education course in third grade at MIN 1 Mojokerto, as well as to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The research data focused on teaching practices and statements from third-grade teachers. The results showed that teachers implemented five complementary strategies: modeling, habit formation, active learning, reinforcement of positive values, and contextual learning. These strategies were manifested through disciplined and courteous behavior modeled by the teachers; the habit of singing the national anthem and respecting national symbols; question-and-answer sessions and simple discussions; the provision of praise and motivation; and linking the material to students’ daily lives. Supporting factors included the teachers’ pedagogical competence and commitment, the local historical context of Mojokerto, and a conducive madrasah environment. Conversely, inhibiting factors include the influence of digital media, limitations in contextual learning resources, and differences in students’ characteristics and readiness to learn. These findings indicate that fostering nationalism requires strategies that are consistent, concrete, and integrated into both the learning process and the madrasah’s culture.
