Abstract

This study is motivated by the strategic role of Ma’had programs in shaping students’ religious character within public Islamic schools. The focus of this research is to analyze the management of Ma’had programs in forming students’ religious character at MTs Negeri 1 Ponorogo, covering planning, implementation, and evaluation aspects. The aim of this study is to describe the managerial processes of Ma’had and identify their contribution to students’ religious character development. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the principal, Ma’had administrators, teachers, dormitory supervisors, and students. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana through data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that program planning was conducted collaboratively by integrating pesantren traditions with the formal madrasah curriculum. Program implementation was carried out in a structured manner through daily worship routines, Qur’anic learning, memorization activities, and disciplined dormitory supervision. Evaluation was conducted periodically through routine meetings and progress reports delivered to parents. The study concludes that integrated Ma’had management significantly contributes to the internalization of religious values, discipline, and responsibility among students. This research strengthens the theoretical framework of Islamic educational management and offers a contextual Ma’had model applicable for public madrasah development based on boarding education.
