This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the curriculum, formulate an optimal integrative learning model, and develop an accountable evaluation system in the context of the Independent Curriculum. This study uses a Qualitative-Evaluative approach with a library research method enriched with content analysis of curriculum documents and the latest scientific literature for the 2024–2025 period. The results show that the traditional learning model (lecture) is no longer relevant for developing 21st-century skills. The effectiveness of Aqidah Akhlak learning is significantly determined by the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model and the integration of digital technology that can visualize abstract concepts and encourage the internalization of values. In addition, this study recommends a shift in the evaluation system from a purely cognitive-based to a holistic evaluation using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) model. The CIPP model is considered the most comprehensive for measuring the achievement of the Pancasila Student Profile through observations of actual behavior in the school and community environment. In conclusion, strengthening student character requires a synergy between adaptive curriculum design, innovative pedagogy, and multi-method assessments oriented toward behavior change.
Nur Tamimah Nurul Ayu Fadilah Khurum Maqsuroh Refa Zulfiani Sufinatin Aisida Copyright (c) 2026 ILJ: Islamic Learning Journal 2026-01-07 2026-01-07 4 1 1 12 10.54437/iljjislamiclearningjournal.v4i1.2824 Analisis Konsep Kurikulum Deep Learning dalam Literatur Pendidikan Tinjauan Teoritis dan Implikasinya https://pondokjurnal.uwj.ac.id/index.php/ilj/article/view/2827
The rapid development of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) has driven a transformation in education, including the development of deep learning-based curricula. This curriculum is designed to replace rote learning approaches with instruction that emphasizes conceptual understanding, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and the application of knowledge in real-world contexts. This study employs a qualitative library research approach with descriptive-thematic content analysis. Data sources include academic books, national and international journal articles, theses, dissertations, and educational policy documents. The findings indicate that deep learning curricula transform teachers’ roles into facilitators and mentors, while encouraging students to become active learners who think critically and reflectively. Assessment practices shift from rote-based evaluations to authentic and formative assessments, such as projects, portfolios, and peer assessment. Implementation challenges include teachers’ readiness, limited technological infrastructure, and societal mindsets still oriented toward exam scores. However, the curriculum also presents strategic opportunities to improve human resource quality through 21st-century skills development and the integration of digital technology. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating pedagogical principles, learning strategies, and technology to create meaningful, deep, and relevant learning experiences for students. The findings provide both theoretical and practical references for curriculum developers, educators, and policymakers in designing adaptive learning that aligns with 21st-century competencies.
Aniswati Aniswati Muhamad Khoirur Roziqin Muhammad Fodhil Copyright (c) 2026 ILJ: Islamic Learning Journal 2026-01-07 2026-01-07 4 1 13 30 10.54437/iljjislamiclearningjournal.v4i1.2827 Gerakan Budaya, Modernitas Reflektif, dan Implikasinya terhadap Pendidikan Karakter dalam Pendidikan Agama Islam https://pondokjurnal.uwj.ac.id/index.php/ilj/article/view/2825
Contemporary society is characterized by an increasing level of individual reflexivity toward values, traditions, and cultural practices, including religious life. This condition has given rise to various forms of cultural movements that seek to influence ways of thinking, attitudes, and everyday behavior through symbols, lifestyles, and cultural expressions. This article aims to analyze the concept of cultural movements and reflexive modernity and examine their implications for character education within Islamic Religious Education. This study employs a qualitative approach using library research, focusing on critical analysis of relevant literature in cultural sociology and Islamic education. The findings indicate that reflexive modernity encourages a shift in the understanding of religion from a normative and taken-for-granted framework toward a more reflective and selective orientation. In this context, cultural movements function as mediating forces in shaping new forms of religious consciousness, which may either reinforce or weaken religious character values. Therefore, Islamic Religious Education is required to develop a character education approach that goes beyond normative-doctrinal transmission and adopts a contextual and reflective orientation. Such an approach is essential to enable learners to engage critically with the dynamics of modern culture while maintaining the foundational values of Islam. This study is expected to contribute theoretically to the development of Islamic Religious Education that remains relevant and responsive to the challenges of modern society.
Nurul Ayu Fadilah Khurum Maqsuroh Nurul Amaliya Nur Fadhilah Dina Ratna Damayanti Copyright (c) 2026 ILJ: Islamic Learning Journal 2026-01-08 2026-01-08 4 1 31 43 10.54437/iljjislamiclearningjournal.v4i1.2825 Pendidikan Karakter Perspektif Imam Al-Ghazali https://pondokjurnal.uwj.ac.id/index.php/ilj/article/view/2846
This paper aims to examine the concept of character education according to Imam Al-Ghazali's perspective and its relevance to Islamic education and national education in Indonesia. This study uses a library research method by examining the works of Imam Al-Ghazali, particularly Ayyuhal Walad and Minhajul 'Abidin, as well as other supporting literature. The results of the study show that character education according to Imam Al-Ghazali is oriented towards the formation of akhlak al-karimah (good character) through habit formation, role modelling, guidance from educators, internalisation of faith in the heart, self-reflection, and the ability to distinguish between good and bad deeds. Al-Ghazali emphasises that character is not merely moral knowledge, but rather attitudes and behaviours that have become spontaneous within a person. The concept of character education offered by Al-Ghazali is considered to be still very relevant to be applied in the context of modern education, especially Islamic education, because it is in line with the national education objectives of forming individuals who are faithful, knowledgeable, noble in character, and responsible. Thus, Imam Al-Ghazali's thoughts can be used as a reference in efforts to reconstruct character education in order to overcome the nation's moral crisis.
Solimin Solimin Noor Fatikah Copyright (c) 2026 ILJ: Islamic Learning Journal 2026-03-01 2026-03-01 4 1 120 138 10.54437/iljjislamiclearningjournal.v4i1.2846 Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) dalam Pendidikan Agama Islam untuk Menginternalisasi Nilai Karakter pada Siswa https://pondokjurnal.uwj.ac.id/index.php/ilj/article/view/2832
This study aims to examine the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model in Islamic Religious Education (IRE) as a means of strengthening students' character. A qualitative approach was used through a literature review, which involved an in-depth examination of various scientific sources discussing contextual learning and character building in the context of IRE. The findings reveal that the application of CTL can improve students' understanding of Islamic values more comprehensively, not only at the conceptual level but also in their daily lives. Through this approach, students are encouraged to connect the learning material with real situations they encounter, thereby strengthening their moral, social, and spiritual attitudes. Furthermore, Contextual Teaching and Learning contributes to shaping character in line with Islamic teachings, while fostering a sense of responsibility, active participation, and independence in practicing religion. Thus, the results of this study are expected to serve as a reference in developing PAI learning that is more relevant, meaningful, and contextual in accordance with the demands of today's education.
Rismawati Rismawati Sawali Faisal Khoirudin Khoirudin Khabib Choiriyah Siti Roudhotul Jannah Copyright (c) 2026 ILJ: Islamic Learning Journal 2026-01-10 2026-01-10 4 1 44 62 10.54437/iljjislamiclearningjournal.v4i1.2832 Kurikulum Pendidikan Agama Islam Berbasis Multikultural https://pondokjurnal.uwj.ac.id/index.php/ilj/article/view/2876
The multicultural reality of Indonesian society demands an adaptive and inclusive Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum. This research is a library study. Data was obtained by collecting various relevant written sources, such as books, scientific journals, articles, and official documents. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis, which involved systematically examining and interpreting data to reveal concepts, principles, and implementations related to the theme of multiculturalism. The results of the study state that multicultural Islamic education is education that places multiculturalism as one of the visions of education with the main characteristics of being inclusive, egalitarian, democratic, and humanistic, while remaining firm on spiritual values and beliefs based on the Qur'an and hadith. Thus, the core or substance of multicultural Islamic education is the willingness to accept other people or groups as a whole, regardless of cultural, ethnic, gender, language, religious, and other differences.
