This article describes the implementation of the expository learning strategy in Qawa'id Sharaf subjects and identifies the supporting and inhibiting factors caused by the cognitive disparity of students. To answer these problems, the author conducted qualitative research using interactive strategies, such as direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. After analyzing the data obtained, the results showed that the teacher prepared learning tools such as syllabi, lesson plans, evaluation materials, and visual schemas before teaching. The implementation of the expository strategy in Qawa'id Sharaf helped students, especially those from non-Islamic junior high school (SMP) backgrounds, to understand basic morphological formulas from scratch. Although cognitive differences were wide between MTs and SMP graduates, the structured step-by-step presentation, peer tutoring, and collective tashrif recitation influenced students' cognitive outcomes and helped them overcome academic shock.
