This study aims to analyze the construction of Islamophobia in Indonesian online news media and examine its implications for strengthening Islamic Religious Education (IRE), particularly in developing digital literacy and religious moderation. This study is important because the development of digital media not only accelerates the dissemination of religious information but also has the potential to reproduce stereotypes, generalizations, and negative representations of Islam and Muslims. The study employs a qualitative approach within a constructivist paradigm using Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis model, which consists of problem definition, causal diagnosis, moral judgment, and treatment recommendation. The data were analyzed by identifying issue selection, diction, news sources, contextualization, and patterns of representation of Islam and Muslims in online news coverage. The findings indicate that Islamophobia in digital news is not always explicitly expressed through hatred toward Islam, but can also be constructed through narratives that associate Muslim identities with threats, radicalism, violence, conflict, and intolerance. The research gap lies in the limited studies connecting framing analysis of Islamophobia with the perspective of Islamic Religious Education in Indonesia. The novelty of this study lies in proposing the concept of religious framing literacy as an IRE approach to develop students’ critical ability to identify stereotypes, generalizations, media bias, and the construction of religious meanings in digital spaces.
