Abstract

This study examines the implementation of eco-pesantren management and its influence on students’ environmental care attitudes at Pondok Pesantren Temulus, Mantingan, Ngawi. The increasing environmental crisis requires educational institutions to develop sustainable environmental awareness through integrated educational approaches. In this context, pesantren possess strategic potential to integrate Islamic values with environmental education and ecological character formation. This research employed a qualitative approach using an instrumental case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving pesantren leaders, teachers, student administrators, and students actively participating in eco-pesantren programs. The findings reveal that eco-pesantren management functions, including planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision, were systematically integrated into institutional governance and students’ daily activities. The integration of Islamic values such as khalifah fil ardh, amanah, and hif al bi’ah strengthened students’ environmental awareness, ecological responsibility, and collective environmental culture. The study concludes that eco-pesantren represents a transformative Islamic educational management model capable of integrating environmental sustainability, character education, and religious values simultaneously within pesantren life.
