Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of Artificial Intelligence in Islamic Religious Education through epistemological, Islamic ethical, and pedagogical transformation perspectives in the digital era. The research employs a qualitative approach with a library research design by examining recent scholarly literature and educational policy documents. The findings indicate that Artificial Intelligence has significant potential to enhance learning effectiveness through personalized instruction, visualization of abstract concepts, and increased interactivity in the learning process. However, this integration raises epistemological challenges related to the validity of knowledge, as in Islam, the primary sources of knowledge remain rooted in revelation and established scholarly traditions. In addition, ethical concerns emerge, including risks of plagiarism, algorithmic bias, and the decline of academic integrity, thus requiring an ethical framework grounded in Islamic values. From a pedagogical perspective, Artificial Intelligence promotes a shift toward more adaptive and technology-based learning, while still maintaining the essential role of teachers as moral and spiritual exemplars. This study concludes that the integration of Artificial Intelligence in Islamic Religious Education must be conducted critically, selectively, and value-oriented to ensure a balance between technological innovation and Islamic principles. With an appropriate approach, technology can serve as a strategic instrument in advancing relevant and sustainable Islamic education.
