Strategi Guru PAI dalam Pembentukan Karakter Disiplin

Abstract

The strategies employed by Islamic Education teachers play an important role in instilling the values of discipline. This is particularly relevant in the millennial era, where rapid technological advances have led to the rapid spread of both positive and negative information. The formation, development, and implementation of character education are closely related to the strategies applied by teachers. The purpose of this study is to describe the strategies used by Islamic Education teachers in shaping the disciplined character of students at SMPN 2 Mojowarno Jombang. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a field method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation with participants consisting of the principal, PAI teachers, and seventh-grade students. Meanwhile, data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show that: a. PAI teachers' strategies include three approaches: (1) reinforcement through punishment in the form of push-ups or squat jumps, (2) habituation through consistent practice of obeying rules and maintaining attitude, (3) PAI teachers' exemplary behavior through discipline in arriving on time, dressing neatly, and keeping promises. b. The students' disciplinary character that was formed included: (1) arriving on time, (2) obeying rules, (3)  submitting  assignments on time. The PAI teacher's strategy proved to be effective in fostering student discipline both at school and outside of school.
