Anxiety is a psychological issue that can affect an individual’s inner peace and quality of life. From an Islamic perspective, a spiritual approach can serve as a complementary strategy to help individuals manage anxiety. This study aims to examine zikir therapy and Salawat therapy as methods of Islamic Counseling and Guidance in helping to alleviate anxiety, based on a theological perspective and the findings of previous research. The study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method with a descriptive-qualitative approach, involving the search and analysis of various relevant scientific literature on zikir, Salawat, anxiety, Islamic psychotherapy, and Islamic Counseling and Guidance. The results of the study show that zikr has a strong theological foundation in the Qur’an, particularly in Surah Ar-Ra‘d, verse 28; Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 152; and Surah Al-A‘raf, verse 205, which emphasize the importance of remembering Allah in attaining peace of mind. The practice of zikr can be manifested through verbal zikr, zikr of the heart, and zikr through deeds. Meanwhile, Salawat therapy is grounded in Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 56, and the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) regarding the virtues of reciting Salawat. Various forms of Salawat, such as Salawat Nariyah, Tibbil Qulub, Munjiyat, and Fatih, have developed as spiritual practices within Muslim communities, although claims regarding their specific healing functions must be distinguished from clinical evidence. Previous research studies indicate that zikr and Salawat interventions have the potential to promote psychological well-being and help reduce anxiety. Thus, zikr therapy and Salawat therapy can be positioned as spiritual-complementary approaches within Islamic Counseling and Guidance to help individuals manage anxiety by integrating psychological and spiritual dimensions.
