Abstract

This article aims to analyse the challenges faced in teaching Akidah Akhlak at MTs Mambaul Ulum, where teaching is still dominated by conventional methods such as lectures and rote learning. The research approach employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews and documentation. The research subjects included teachers and students. The results indicate that conventional methods lead to passive students and difficulties in internalising moral values. As a solution, interactive methods were implemented through group discussions, case studies, question-and-answer sessions, and practical moral simulations. The implementation of these methods has proven to enhance students’ motivation, active participation, and contextual understanding. However, there are constraints such as time limitations, large class sizes, teacher resistance, and a lack of facilities. Therefore, there is a need for continuous teacher training, the provision of learning materials, and instructional designs that support the effective and contextual internalisation of moral values in students’ daily lives.
